In August 2008 the European Commission launched its Pilot Open Access for a wide dissemination and visibility of the results of research funded by the Framework Programme 7 (valid until 2013). Under this initiative the articles resulting from research funded by the 7 th Framework Programme should be disseminated in open access after an embargo period. The disciplinary areas involved in this initiative are:
-
Energy - Environment
- Health
- Information Technology and Communication (Cognitive Systems, Interaction, Robotics)
- Research Infrastructures (e-Infrastructures)
- Science in Society
- Social and Economic Sciences and Humanities
research funding agreements between researchers and the European Commission in these areas that have been signed since the launch of Open Access Pilot Project containing a clause specifies that articles resulting of such research must be deposited in an institutional repository (in the case of the CSIC, in Digital.CSIC) within 6 months (Energy, Environment, Health, Information Technologies and Communication, e-Infrastructures) or 12 months (Science in Society, Economics and Social Sciences and Humanities) .
If the item in question was published in a scientific journal Payment Pilot Project expects the post-print version (the copy of the author revised and approved) is deposited in the repository after the period of embargo.
To facilitate the practical implementation of this Pilot Project OA, the European Commission has designed a " form letter" and a "model addendum" to the copyright agreement to be signed by the authors when publishing their work to a publisher. Attached two documents to those CSIC researchers whose research is funded by the Framework Programme 7 using them. Where possible, we recommend that authors try to improve the terms of copyright transfer agreements with publishing houses addenda, a widespread practice today.
also recall the CSIC researchers whose research has been co-financed by the Community of Madrid must deposit the results of their research in Digital.CSIC ( https: / / digital.csic.es / faqs / # fag3 ) as it reads the rules for the purpose of this community.
